Job Description:

  • Provides program leadership for the Prospect Research Team including coaching of team members and creation and execution of projects and processes.
  • Supervises the execution of all prospects related to prospect research including prospect identification, capacity ratings, and wealth screening projects.
  • Facilitates the execution of the wealth and capacity portion of briefing materials on individual prospects for the dean, deputy deans, and other Booth senior leaders for advancement-related meetings.
  • Supervises, manages, and mentors two Senior Assistant Directors, Prospect Research, strategically identifying daily tasks, projects, and professional development in collaboration with the Director, Prospect Development and Campaign.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Advancement Operations Teams, fundraisers, and senior staff to implement prospect research strategies and identify specific research needs.
  • Uses electronic and print resources to develop and synthesize information on prospects to produce clear profiles including background, career, financial capacity, philanthropic interests, and nature of their relationship to the University and Booth.
  • Identifies new prospects in order to grow the Booth prospect pool, participating in strategic prospect identification projects as well as prospect strategy meetings when necessary.
  • Stays current on industry trends and practices through associations, professional colleagues, and other sources. Implements said trends to ensure that the team remains at the forefront of innovative and best practices.
  • Develops and demonstrates skill in reading and interpreting complex documents, including regulatory filings, and proficiency in terms used in the financial services industry.
  • Serves as a point of contact to Office of Advancement staff on prospect research protocols and products.
  • Liaise with University Alumni Relations and Development counterparts on prospect research-related projects.
  • Manages the process for ensuring that prospect research data is maintained in the database of record.
  • Contributes to high-level strategy discussions around the prospect pool.
  • Contributes to team goals toward achieving overall department objectives.
  • Has a deep understanding of prospect research, prospect management, strategic planning and market research on donors prospects.
  • Provides guidance to research analysts, train staff members on fundraising, report writing, and research.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelorâ™s degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum five years of industry experience in prospect research.
  • A minimum two years of management experience.
  • Background at an institution of higher education.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with fundraising databases such as Salesforce.
  • Accomplished in prospect research tools and applications such as iWave, LexisNexis, Aidentified, Pitchbook.
  • Proficiency with the Windows environment and standard MS Office suite.

Working Conditions

  • This position is currently expected to work a hybrid schedule.
  • Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
  • Work evenings and weekends on occasion.
