Division: Brief Summary of Work for this Position: The Faculty Recruitment and Compensation Specialist serves as a lead consultant and strategic business partner with college leadership as well as other academic units for implementation and management of the faculty career cycle, supporting all faculty as defined in the UNCW Faculty Handbook. The Specialist works collaboratively with other units in Human Resources, assigned colleges, academic offices, and the Office of Undergraduate Education and Faculty Affairs (UEFA) to meet the needs of our academic community. This position provides comprehensive guidance and interpretation regarding regulation, policy, processes, and initiatives to ensure alignment with programs supporting UNCW faculty career cycle, shared governance, and state/federal guidelines. The Specialist works independently, using sound judgment, diplomacy, and tact while advising and consulting with the deans offices, chairs, directors, and faculty. This is a customer-centric, fast-paced environment which requires work to be performed with a sense of urgency in completing day-to-day activities with a strong focus on high performance, collaboration, and innovation.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Faculty Recruitment and Search Process Coordination: Consultation with assigned colleges to accomplish goals and objectives in recruiting a highly qualified, diverse workforce. The specialist serves as a subject matter expert and advises on the EHRA Faculty Employment program within established policies, guidelines, and standards. The incumbent ensures employment policies and procedures are followed for compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and serves as a resource for policy interpretation and administration of processes relevant to EHRA Faculty employment and recruitment processes.
Faculty Personnel Administration: Single point of contact for assigned colleges including managing position and faculty details in ERP, personnel file maintenance, temporary faculty processing and credentialing, supplemental pay procedures including the use of Faculty Load and Compensation module (FLAC), and graduate student employees. Additional personnel support for assigned colleges may include Reappointment, Tenure and Promotion practices and procedures, orchestration of Annual Raise Process (ARP), various UNC Systems Office reporting, and review of salary structures/ranges, etc.
Training and Projects: Develops and facilitates ongoing academic unit training on faculty personnel policies and practices, as well as, necessary compliance to reduce risk. Participation in cross-functional projects and assists with strategic personnel initiatives and implementation of related programs.
Systems/ Applications: Regularly performs data queries and input in ERP and software applications that manage positions and faculty recruitment related information. Understand the interface protocol across systems and impact of data entry and system changes.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Graduation from a four year college or university; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
