Partnership with Children works with public schools in New York City’s highest-need communities to provide critical social and emotional services for the hardest-to-reach youth and to systematically support schools that are safe, successful and conducive to learning.
The organization is at an exciting time, and we are looking to hire our first Communications Director to amplify our mission and impact. We are looking for a hands-on strategic communicator and storyteller to help uplift the achievements of PWC staff, students, and families across our network of schools, cultivate new donor audiences, and systemize our internal and external communications.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies and annual communication plans across the organization’s varied audiences to create momentum and awareness.
Define social media strategy and manage organizations social media presence with the goal of growing our donor base and engaging stakeholders around our mission.
Lead and manage the organization's website, including liaising across departments to ensure it accurately portrays the evolving work of the organization.
In partnership with the Chief Development Officer, develop and execute multi-channel appeals, newsletters, and other fundraising and social media campaigns to amplify organizational storytelling and reach donors.
Collaborate with our external PR consultant to: imagine compelling stories to build interest, grow our media presence, monitor media coverage, and ensure appropriate responses
Partner closely with senior staff to build, implement, and sustain an organizational branding strategy, which includes style guide, brand position, and internal and external communication strategies.
Design and develop internal communication templates and toolkits (decks, one-pagers, brochures, flyers, merch, social media) and ensure effective and consistent communications and messaging throughout the entire organization, ensuring that culture, values and beliefs are integrated into communication efforts.
Collaborate closely with program staff to gather stories, testimonials, and data that highlight our impact and effectively communicate our successes.
Support executive communications by preparing talking points, speeches, and presentations for leadership team members.
Tailor pitch decks and other materials for funders and external stakeholders to cultivate partnerships.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding relevant social and philanthropic trends around the topics of mental health and healing arts, as well as programs and activities across PWC.
Coordinate with vendors; maintain an updated roster of designers, printers, mail houses and other suppliers for use by our and other departments.
Support the Development team with the planning, logistics, and operation of cultivation and fundraising events throughout the year.
Assist additional projects, tasks, and campaigns, as needed.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; 5-7 years of experience in communications.
Creative thinker with the ability to generate new ideas and strategies, and willingness to take initiative.
Superior writing, editing, and communication skills; experience synthesizing data and translating complex information into succinct and engaging communications.
Excellent visual communication skills and experience with layout and design software systems (i.e., Adobe In-design, Canva, etc.).
Proficiency in digital communications and social media platforms, including content creation and analytics.
Experience managing and updating website content with Word Press or other web management software.
Strong time-management and organizational skills, including the ability to develop and maintain best-in-class systems, policies, and tools that directly support internal and external communications.
Expertise in cultivating an array of internal and external working relationships with finesse.
Broad understanding of the philanthropic, educational, mental health, and equity landscapes, a plus.
Experience utilizing a CRM like Salesforce, a plus.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary range is $95,000-$110,000 commensurate to credentials and experience. All full-time employees receive an excellent benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k retirement plan with employer match, life insurance, Flexible spending Account/FSA, Commuter benefits, and twenty-four days paid annual leave per year, plus four Summer Fridays and 12 other paid holidays.
