Job Description

Sweet Helicopters is seeking an A&P certified Aircraft Mechanic to join our team! At Sweet Helicopters, we maintain a fleet of modern, top-of-the-line helicopters, as well as providing professional charter service, maintenance service, and flight instruction. We are proud to call the vibrant, award-winning city of Fort Wayne, Indiana home, but our service area extends across the Great Lakes area and beyond. Through a partnership with Parkview Health’s network of hospitals, Sweet Helicopters provides life-saving air ambulance services to the people of northeast Indiana, northwest Ohio, and southwest Michigan. We also proudly serve as the official helicopter charter partner for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home to the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs preventive, scheduled and on-demand maintenance, inspections, repairs and modifications to airframes and engines in accordance with manufacturers' maintenance procedures, service bulletins and manuals, airworthiness directives, and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Utilize hand and power tools to perform duties in a timely manner to meet a high standard of safety and quality
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft electrical systems and avionics
  • Works well with a small team as well as independently with minimal immediate supervision
  • Assist in maintaining maintenance logs and records as required
  • Maintains a clean work environment and professional appearance
  • Occasional travel required

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be FAA Airframe and Powerplant certified, Inspection Authorization preferred
  • Must possess a basic set of mechanic’s hand tools in both metric and standard (fractional) sizes
  • Team player with a professional and positive attitude
  • Strong work ethic, communication skills, and integrity
  • Ability to operate a computer proficiently and adapt to various software platforms
  • Must be physically able to perform the following, unaided:
    • Bend over and pick up items from the floor
    • Raise arms above the head
    • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
    • Bending, kneeling, squatting, and standing for extended periods of time
    • Climb and descend a 10’ ladder
    • See and hear safety hazards and warnings – vision correctable to 20/20
    • Frequently use hands, wrists, shoulders, and back as necessary
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
    • Must be able to pass FAA regulated pre-employment drug screening (and will be subject to ongoing FAA random drug and alcohol testing program)
    • Valid state driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years recent turbine helicopter maintenance experience
  • Experience on Airbus Helicopters EC130 / AS350 / EC120, and Agusta A109S
  • Experience performing track and balance
